2016 – 2017 YOUTH SNOW REMOVAL PROGRAM FOR SENIORS

The Department of Transportation would like to inform you that it is launching its Youth Snow Program again this year.  Through the program, DOT will pair Baltimore City residents who are either over the age of 65 or who are physically unable to shovel their snow due to a disability/medical issue with a student between the ages of 14 and 21 who will assist the resident with removing snow from the public right of ways adjacent to the resident’s property.

City residents and students who are interested in this program must apply by submitting registration forms and supporting documentation.  Registration for both residents and student workers begins Monday, September 26 and runs through October 31, 2016.  Registration forms can be obtained by calling 311 or can be downloaded from DOT’s website at www.BaltimoreCity.gov.  Registration forms will NOT be accepted after the October 31st deadline.

Please note that this service is based on DOT having sufficient student staffing in each neighborhood to shovel resident right of ways.  Residents who request registration forms or complete the registration process are not guaranteed snow shoveling services.  This program is on a first come, first served basis, so we encourage residents and student workers to complete registration as soon as possible.  Attached are PDF copies of both the Senior and Youth applications and an FAQ about the program.
